Jim Steinwand has been involved in the security and protection business for a number of years, beginning with Electronic Countermeasures in the Air Force duringthe Vietnam war. After a number of years with the South Dakota State Radio Communications Office of the Attorney General as dispatcher and computer engineer, he began a career in physical and computer security with Norwest Banks, where he installed the first teller automation devices, rebuilt data centers and instituted the first standardized computer wiring network for desktop devices. At USWest, Mr. Steinwand was instrumental in creating one of the first managed firewall services (MFS) in the country. Mr. Steinwand then entered State service, where he operationalized Identity Management and created Access Control Services. Mr. Steinwand possess an FCC First Class Radio-Telephone License and previously held the CISSP, CISA, CISM, RCDD certifications, and was co-chair of the Legislative Workgroup of MS-ISAC, an organization of State CISO’s. He is a graduate of the FBI Citizen Academy, and has been active in InfraGard since 2002, and a board member since 2006.
