March 23, 2015 – 6:30pm to 9:00pm CT

Hiway Federal Credit Union (Community Room)

111 Empire Drive, St Paul, MN (Driving Directions)

Over the last several years, the FBI, state and local law enforcement, and the public have developed an increased awareness of the child pornography/child sexual exploitation crime problem. More online incidents of these crimes are being identified for investigation than ever before. The number of cases opened throughout the FBI has catapulted from 113 cases in fiscal year 1996 to approximately 7,760 pending child pornography/child sexual exploitation investigations in December 2013. We invite you to listen to a special agent from the FBI’s Innocent Images program talk about investigating Internet crimes against children cases and sexual exploitation of children cases facilitated by the Internet.  She will incorporate two case studies in which both subjects were charged with production of child pornography.

It’s sad but true: here in this country, people are being bought and sold like modern-day slaves. Our second speaker of the evening will discuss an adult sex trafficking case in which beatings and threats were used to force a woman to engage in prostitution. The subjects also transported a juvenile victim from St. Paul across state lines in an attempt to coerce the minor into engaging in commercial sex acts for their benefit. (get more information)
