A Minneapolis FBI counterintelligence special agent leads a discussion and shows the FBI film, “The Company Man: Protecting America’s Secrets”. The 37-mintue film dramatizes the risks of economic espionage and theft of trade secrets to the U.S. economy. The film is bade on a trade secrets case investigated by the FBI in 2012. In this case, a group of conspirators tried to recruit a veteran employee to steal the trade secrets they needed to build a competing plant in China. This cautionary tale will help viewers understand the indicators to watch for so they can proactively detect attempts by insiders and foreign agents to illicitly acquire trade secrets and intellectual property.
